None of us wants to imagine one day suffering substantial vision loss, but our eyes are unfortunately susceptible to age-related deterioration and retinal disease. The retina lines the back of the eye and receives light just as the film of a camera receives focused light. Dr. Reinke treats patients with retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, and flashes and floaters.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is characterized by loss of central vision due to retinal damage (specifically deterioration of the macula). Dr. Reinke evaluates all forms of macular degeneration and offers treatments for exudative (wet) age-related macular degeneration.
Diabetic retinopathy involves retinal damage as a result of poor blood flow to the retinal tissues. Diabetic complications can eventually lead to blindness. Dr. Reinke helps patients with diabetes prevent vision loss with regular eye exams. Once diagnosed, many forms of diabetic retinopathy can be treated with medication and laser therapy.
Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO) and Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) are some of the many retinal vascular disorders that can lead to permanent vision loss. Dr. Reinke provides treatment options for many of these and other medical retina problems.
